The Canadian Digital Heritage Society is a federally incorporated nonprofit organization dedicated to documenting, preserving, and sharing Canada’s cultural and civic life through digital media.

Our work exists at the intersection of heritage, technology, and storytelling. Using tools such as drones, video, and audio documentation, we create long-term digital records of everyday life, neighborhoods, landscapes, and communities. Capturing Canada as it exists today for future generations.

The Society’s work has been active since 2016, beginning with independent video documentation and visual storytelling focused on Canadian communities, daily life, and the built environment. This early work laid the foundation for a structured, long-term approach to digital heritage preservation.

In parallel with preservation, education is a core mission of the Canadian Digital Heritage Society. We work to ensure that future generations are equipped to continue this work by teaching practical technological skills, including drone piloting, video recording, editing, publishing, and responsible digital storytelling. Through hands-on learning and mentorship, we support individuals and communities in developing the tools and knowledge required to document and preserve their own lived experiences.

The Ottawa 200 Project is the Society’s first public program, marking the transition from independent documentation to a publicly accessible, community-focused digital archive developed for and with the public.
